This new state of the art tire sales and service center features many “green” technologies including geothermal heating and cooling. This allows the buildings temperature to be controlled all without the use of fossil fuels. The building also features long life LED light fixtures that automatically dim to save energy by monitoring the available natural light and only coming on bright enough to supplement it. Future plans include solar panels, solartube lighting and waste heat recapture to heat domestic hot water.

In addition to the low energy use building, this location will feature a propane powered tire service truck. The US Department of Energy reports that “Using propane as a vehicle fuel increases energy security, provides convenience and performance benefits, and improves public health and the environment.”

Pete’s Tire Barns President Peter Gerry told the representatives on hand at the ribbon cutting ceremony that “this building was designed from the ground up to be energy net plus, meaning eventually we will produce more power then we consume”. This new location features four passenger and light truck tire service bays, three commercial tire service bays and a heavy duty alignment machine. Tire Retailer Makes Major Investment in Vermont

Pete’s Tire Barns opens new Retread Facility and Tire Store in Rutland, VT.

Rutland, VT: Pete’s Tire Barn, Inc, has recently completed the first phase of a multi-million dollar project to service retail and commercial tire customers in the State of Vermont. Seeing a growing need for high-quality retreaded tires in the State of Vermont. Peter Gerry, President of Pete’s Tire Barns, made the bold decision to undertake the massive project of creating a modern Bandag retread facility in the state of Vermont. After researching a location that would service the greater Rutland County as well as their existing locations in Brattleboro and White River Junction, Pete’s Tire Barns purchased the former Rouse Tire at 62 Randbury Road in Rutland, Vermont. Engineers, architects and contractors were brought in to plan out the project and the development was then broken down into three phases. Phase one was to completely remodel and outfit the retread facility. Phase two is to build a brand new 10,000 sq ft tire distribution center and shipping and receiving area. Phase 3 will be to build new commercial and retail service bays to replace the existing service bays. Once the planning was done, the work began on transforming the existing 15,000 sq ft. facility into a modern State-of-the-Art Bandag retread facility. Using many local contractors, the roof was replaced, floors were repaired and coated, all structural supports were reinforced, electrical service was upgraded, and new heating and ventilation were installed. In order to increase tire manufacturing capacity, all existing equipment was rebuilt brand new equipment was installed. Employees have been hired and trained in the art of retreading tires. Currently, the retread facility and tire service center employs ten Vermont-based employees and this number is expected to grow to 30 full-time employees as the shop reaches full capacity. Pete’s Tire Barns is now producing tires in the State of Vermont made by their Vermont employees. The second phase of construction is already underway with Casella Construction doing site work for the tire distribution center. This new facility sells and service tires for Passenger & Light Truck Vehicles, Trailer, ATV, Lawn & Garden, Farm, Forestry, OTR, Medium and Heavy Trucks and the retread shop can produce 200 high-quality truck retreads per day. Northampton, MA : On Friday September 3rd 2010 the monster trucks descended on Northampton with one purpose. Thanks to the generous support of Walmart and Big Lots who not only gave up their parking lot for the event, they also passed out flyers, collected donations and delivered multiple shopping carts of donated food. The Bigfoot Monster Truck driver was on hand to sign autographs, take pictures and talk about what is like to drive a monster truck.
