Fill the Monster Truck Food Drive a Crushing Success!

ORANGE, MASS., September 6, 2011 –Pete’s Tire Barns partnership with the Franklin County Community Meal Program and Bridgestone Passenger for the Fill the Monster Truck Food Drive was a great success. This was the second year of the event, continuing Pete’s Tire Barns commitment to their neighbors and surrounding communities.

With over 4 truckloads of canned goods donated, and hundreds of dollars raised during the event, Pete’s Tire Barns of Orange, MA is happy to once again be supporting their community. The Firestone powered MLB All-Star Bigfoot monster truck was available for photographs at the event and the driver (Kyle Doyle) was on hand to sign autographs and take photos.

“We couldn’t believe the turn out!” says Ray Turilli, IT & Marketing Director. “Last year was such a success gathering donations for the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts at our Northampton location, that we only expected to match their record, not double it!” Pete’s Tire Barns would like to thank all of the local businesses that helped to support the event ─ Firestone, TD Bank, Wal-Mart, Workers Credit Union, Hannaford Supermarket, Bank of America, AOTV, Orange House of Pizza, and WJDF. Without their ongoing support, we couldn’t have made the event the success it was.

“Last Thursday, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. we had 123 families come to the Orange Food Pantry for food,” said Amy Clarke, Executive Director of the Franklin County Community Meals Program. “We are serving at least 10% more people this year than we did last year, and we expect that number to climb throughout the fall. At the same time, our biggest source for food each week, the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, is responding to both tornado and hurricane disasters, so there is less food available for programs like ours. The Fill the Monster Truck Food Drive couldn’t have happened at a better time!”

Fill the Monster Truck Food Drive took place at Pete’s Tire Barns Orange, MA location on September 2 from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Scale Die-cast Monster Trucks were given away to any children under the age of 12 who brought a canned food donation. Face painting and free giveaways were also part of the event, which was free and open to the public.
